I Declare Today: Bad Art Appreciation Day

Apr 25, 2007 11:50

Because I love you all, and because I'm easily amused, I declare today:

Bad Art Appreciation Day

Now, you may be asking yourself, "Unh, why do we want to celebrate bad art?"

Because someone needs to celebrate people who reach too far, fly too high, love too much, and believe too deeply.

*sighs happily*

Sounds like a nice answer, doesn't it?

The truth is ( Read more... )

holiday: bad art appreciation day

I can't link to this contest homepage in my journal with a clear conscience because they call Lovecraft America's Greatest Bad Writer. Still, their collection of the worst openings to fiction is impressive:

Here are some others.

Welcome to Fat Jerk City, a rather damning article describing our wayward youth.

And now I'll link to some mstings of Resident Evil "erotic" fanfiction. Yes, I'm talking about the games with the walking dead people. Enjoy !(?)

Ya know, I had really wondered about Wonder Woman. I do think it's probably a good thing that Joss isn't working on this. I like the guy but I don't like the way he treats many of his characters. I think that Buffy and Angel suffer too much from the "oops, you thought you'd get just a little spot of joy in your otherwise painful existence but you were wrong! YOINK!" school of writing.

I love the Gardiner museum. It isn't bad taste - it is just that it is so all encompassing: no taste, in the best possible way.

I love the Gardiner museum too. But you've got to admit that Isabella herself was all kinds of special. :-)

Clearly, she was very, very vain; and she must have had much more money than sense.

When I went to the museum, I was told a story which may or may not be true: that she needed to test the acoustics in the ballroom, for which she needed an audience; and she was loth to let anyone see the house before the grand opening party. So she got an audience of blind children from the local blind school...

Please tell me it's true!

I adore you! However, I have just spent the last three hours of my life bruising my ribs from laughter after hanging out at Superdickery! In celebration of the tacky, tasteless and kitschy (and possibly because I am now firmly convinced Batman and Robin were an established couple) I have tracked down a video for your Bad Art Appriciation pleasure.

Er . . . that was supposed to be "Appreciation". and I forgot to tell you the video has nothing to do with Batman and Robin, except, well . . . it's been a slashy night. *g*
