Music from the Cube: What Am I Listening To Today?

Mar 30, 2007 15:02

I declare this here LJ as a Wank-Free Zone (at least for today).

I also declare my LJ as a Cheer-Up Zone (at least for today) because, damn, there are a lot of people on my FList who seem to need the pick-me-up.

So you know what time it is, kiddoes?

MUSIC FROM THE CUBE!

And who is our guest artist for today?

Unh, um...

Heh.

Björk.

I know, I know, not ( Read more... )

Heh. Um. I cannot explain the Bjork block. I have it on a smaller level, in that, I think that I can take or leave Bjork, and then listen to her stuff and bop along happily.

On the other hand, other days, I'm "OMGYAYBJORK!" and put her on and twitch because I don't wanna listen after all. . . .

Can't explain it, though. I'm kind of thinking that I blame Dancer in the Dark.

Ooooo, ooooo! I blame the Oscar Swan Suit!

Seriously, though...Bjork confuzzles me. Glad I'm not the only one.

Yay, music! I have a couple of her early albums (+ Sugarcubes) on cassette and I tend to listen to them when I'm feeling nostalgic for university. I had a friend who was head-over-heels with a straightgirl crush on Bjork, and so my feelings on her are rather...fraught.

Downloading the whole pack - thank you!

Glad I can be of service. :-)

Bjork's weirdly compelling in a lot of ways. I'm just not sure how I feel about her on any level.

It is apparently a well-known phenomenon. Who knew?

Here I thought she was what all the hip kids loved these days.

If there's ever been a better time to use this icon, then I don't want to know...

And according to my best friend who went to college with Bjork's cousin and actually got to meet the lady in question, it's pretty nigh dead accurate.

Do you have any idea how much I love that icon? I've seen it a few places, but man it always cracks me up.

And now you tell me that it's closer to the truth than I expect?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

And holy crap, I'm two degrees from Bjork (me<--you<--Bjork). This is almost as cool as finding out that I'm three degrees from Tricia Helfer aka Caprica/Six (me<--my brother<--Helfer's cousin<--Helfer).

The internets...making us more six degrees than ever before...

Have them all the mp3 files. But you might (or not), check out "Under Byen" who have been compared to Björk, which is not totally fitting comparison but anyway.
Here is a link to the number "Af samme stof som stof

Heh. Thanks for the link.

Definitely a trippy little outfit. I'm with you, they do have a different sound. I suspect people make the comparison because of the trippiness and because record companies are probably looking for the "next Bjork" or something like that.
