Hanging with Markus Aurelius and Lucius Maximus

The Davenport Dudes are great. Although Luke and I had a bit of trouble with the biking situation which I really can't explain in a post and shouldn't. But Luke was really gracious as always and let me ride his lovely bike with excellent brakes and took the loud, difficult, brakeless bike and the bike lock and the backpack. So I had it very easy ( Read more... )

Liz, I have loved reading your journal entries and all the comments from Heather, Kevin, Daniel, Meredith, unknown, Jess, Allison, Luke, Byndon (sp?, Mom, Dad, Maresy and Debs. You have good friends and you are a wonderful writer; it has been fun educational to track your conversations and travels via this journal. As you know, I haven't had consistent access to the internet but I want you to know that with my computer finally fixed this week I was able to read all your postings. I hope Meredith told you that we had a fun time at family camp (don't believe the parts about me being rude, obnoxious, etc. she brings it upon herself). It was also great to see C. Bressoud, the Hills, Hodges and Parker there--we missed you that weekend. Alright, I'm off to bed, Liz--the Lighthouse has another workday tomorrow. Yes, yet another Saturday of work!!! Some of us from the LH may go see the Prescott Park play in the evening this Sat. because it was rained out tonight. In fact, Jan and I, not knowing it had been rained out, ended up playing Frisbee around Strawberry Banke for an hour-and-a-half before being told that the show was cancelled . . . Oh sorry, you asked that we not share our own personal lives in these postings . . . I'm becoming the very thing I hate . . .participating in an online industry I abhor . . .

Just kidding. Okay, when you get back we are going to 1) go see "The Village", 2) deprogramme you i.e. undo any effects of indoctrination you may have sustained from reading "Wild At Heart" (by the way, isn't that book written expressly for men?) and 3) talk about family camp (You heard I roomed with Dad because of Mom and Dad's current marital difficulties which culminated in her moving to Mississippi or wherever, right?). Okay, love you,

-Matt

P. S. After finally restoring my computer's hd and reinstalling a lot of programs I was able to gain access to your livejournal. Daniel also helped me out because the email link you sent didn't seem to work. Just thought I'd be the five-hundred and thirty-second person to tell you that the link was wrong.

This marital break-up is news to me. You think I'd "tuck up" (note the MS accent)with some juvenile dancer down at Ballet Magnificat? Or, Lopez, the 300 lb. propietor of La Quinta Inn? Or the elderly gentlemen on the Mississippi Queen, the youngest of whom were octogenarians? Come now.
My love affair in MS was with a road -- the Natchez Trace -- most beautiful length of "highway" I've ever driven. And that's about it. Not to mention feasting on the sight of my lovely dancer daughter. Going TO her was about as good a feeling as coming home always is. Reminds me of trips to GCC and Charlottesville in that respect.

No break-up? Now she's in denial. Mom's situation is far worse than I had suspected, Liz. When you get back let's make Mom and Dad sit down and watched "Parent Trap". It's our only hope.
