Sarah wakes to find the Terminator standing by her bedroom window, a forlorn sentry framed in dismal dawn.
“I apologize for interrupting your rest.” Cameron approaches, offers Sarah the curved pliers. “You must help me.”
Annoyed, Sarah refuses. “No manual labor until after coffee. Do it yourself.”
“Impossible.”
Reluctantly, Sarah mutters into her pillow. “What’s impossible?”
“I cannot self-terminate,” Cameron explains, displaying the right side of her skull, her chestut hair thatched red around a circular excision of flesh.
Though shocked, Sarah doesn’t recoil; she stands for a closer examination. “The hell have you done?”
“My thoughts are wrong.” Cameron presses the pliers into Sarah’s hand. “Sometimes we go bad. No one knows why.”
Sarah pales, thinking of John asleep down the hall. “Violent wrong?”
Cameron hesitates, then clarifies by pulling Sarah’s empty hand to her breast and softly kissing her mouth.
She dismisses the swelling nipple as nerve and tissue forgery, the sweet lips as cosmetic, but realizing Cameron feels shame and fear gives Sarah pause.
She drops the pliers on the bed. Cameron regards her curiously, awaiting a verdict.
“Thank you for explaining,” says Sarah. “Go… fix your hair.”
Cameron mutely complies. Alone in the hallway, she smiles.
