Always a bride....

*briefly considers writing as her report to the captain: "I got drunk, accidentally stepped on a tentacled alien, was thrown in jail, got married, got divorced and came back to ship. So, nothing that hasn't happened before." But discards that idea.

To Captain Archer:

Sir,

As you were informed, I was arrested after stepping on an alien Ambassador's tentacle while dancing. I did not mean to do that at the time and did not realize what the consequences would be. However, after investigating the alien Ambassadors customs I learned that to step on a tentacle is part of a mating dance, if done in public it can bring great shame to the male partner. Even cause him to be dishonored.

The only way for the man to get his honor back would be for him to have been married to the other person involved. So the Sheriff performed a marriage ceremony for the Ambassador and I, then the Ambassador gave me back to my "brother" Commander Tucker. Thus effectively divorcing me. This gives the Ambassador his honor back and prevents him from being shamed in front of his people.

However the only way the shame and dishonor can always be avoided is if the wedding and divorce are official. So, I request that you make it official through Starfleet and have both the marriage and divorce entered into my record. I don't want there to be any chance of the Ambassador being dishonored if it can be avoided.

If you need to talk to me about any of this, let me know.

Sincerely;

Ensign Elizabeth Cutler
