Today was super productive. We've gotten pretty much the whole fall semester mapped out for physics class. And I discovered a magic filing cabinet full of every lesson plan the old astronomy teacher left behind. I don't want to do everything like he did it, but dude. Teachers are all about stealing and he's got a lot of cool activities in there. I have no idea why he would leave this gold mine behind. Also, two of the other science teachers are runners, and we're talking about starting a running group to train for the half marathon in the winter. I'm a little worried because I went to the gym to run on the treadmill today (it was 108F, no way was I going outside, plus I was a little dehydrated already). My knee started hurting to the point where I wasn't comfortable running anymore, I think I overdid it a little yesterday. Also knee surgery was the topic of lunchtime conversation, so I might be paranoid. But yeah, as long as I watch out for myself, I think I can totally do this. Plus it helps having other people with the same goals around you.
You know what I noticed about Austin? Everyone has this kind of sarcastic sense of humor all the time, kind of similar to mine. And everyone seems really happy all of the time. And everyone's super nice. And it's a nice slow-paced town, no one's ever in a rush. It's a whatever goes type town. I mean, I knew most of this stuff before. But most of the people here really do seem happy, whether they're just making you a taco or they're a good friend coming to have some beers in your pool. Oh and that's another thing. Austin loves tacos. Taco stands are everywhere. Tacos anyway, anywhere, anytime. There's nowhere that doesn't sell them, and dirt cheap too. I'm really going to have to watch my eating, because fried avocado tacos will make you fat. Mmmm... fried avocado tacos....
