Welcome to this thing called "Camp Life"

Hello! I haven't posted in a while, and whatever I posted before wasn't constructive or interesting in the least. I think this might be just a little bit more interesting because I forgot my fancy leather journal back home, and I'll need a place to rant/muse/babble on in order to keep my sanity. Why, you might ask? Here I am in the middle of nowhere-well, almost-well, yes. I am approximately two hours from Fort Macmurray, living in a camp.

Camp life is different from what I'm used to, but in some aspects it remains the same: I eat prepared food, I don't do dishes, and I get to help myself to a tray of vegetables/fruit/snacks/cookies/etc when I feel the need. The only thing different is I prepare my lunches, keep my things in order and clean, and did I mention the tractor?

My job is an extremely easy one that anyone can do if they can drive. I say this because it took me less than an hour to figure it out. You sit in that semi-automatic tractor all day and drive along bumpy terrain to smooth things out. There is a tire being dragged behind the tractor that does this for you. I am getting paid twice the amount of a cashier for...basically the same amount of work and less customer interaction. :D

The only downside is I wake up at 5AM every day, work from 7AM to 7PM, and end up crashing around 9PM (just until I get used to the system, I'm sure).

I need to stretch and then stroll down the hall to start my work day. I'll keep you posted whenever I find the time/energy to do so. :) Hope you guys are doing well without me!
