will someone give me some happy news?

As if the current major world news wasn't depressing enough, Leslie Cheung jumped off some hotel to end his life today... sigh. Suicide. It breaks my heart to think that there are people who feel that they have no one to turn to and this is the only road for them to take. That said, it is the road for cowards. People always say, 'What won't kill you, will only make you stronger.' It is when we feel at our lowest and most alone that the greatest test of our inner strength come about. The thing is, strength comes not just from within, but without as well - family, friends, surprisingly even the stranger in the street if you would just open your eyes and heart...

and then Madonna withdraws her video release... well.. my initial reaction was she got possessed (she said she didn't want to offend anyone... Madonna??!!) but after seeing it, I guess I understand... the images that she puts out are primarily for entertainment's sake, but even then she has her own message to bring to the audience. With the current state of things, these images will be analysed, ripped apart by all parties involved, pro-war, anti-war, pro-peace, whatever... to the point where her own message is lost. And perhaps she's also showing respect to those out there fighting for everyone's lives, by not belittling the news images (propaganda or otherwise, another can of worms altogether) with the fictitious and archival material in her video...

and did anyone see the letter in ST forum from the guy asking for advice from the government what to do!?!!! sigh. I worry for the future of Singapore.

music, food for thought, tragedies
