Tuesday afternoon. I arrive at the Heidel House Resort, nervous but prepared for my desk clerk interview. I really want this job. Its a wonderful place to work and the people that stay here are so interesting. The manager has not yet arrived so I wait near the grand piano as an older gentleman plays brilliantly.
"Young lady, come here," the man implores. I walk over to the piano and the smiling woman at his side. "You have a joyful energy. I am going to play for you."
"I'll get you a chair," the woman says.
He played something full of energy and grace.
Cash (his nickname from years ago) is Armenian, used to teach in Milwaukee, and has a beautiful view on life. Virginia, the smiling woman, was a painter. I enjoyed them immensely. Hopefully I'll see them again.
