Every single one of these phrases felt it's fit John comfortably like worn knitted sweaters.
Labels paled in comparison in the face of actions in real life and he had been living in real life for as long as he can remember. And this, falling into steps next to Sherlock right in the thick of things, was living real life at its finest form.

Glad you like and approve. John is actually quite a layered character for me to grasp and I've never actually try to write someone with PTSD background before. So this was just me musing and shooting in the dark with my profiling of him so far.
That part you quote was one of my fave as well, and it was kinda inspired by Mycroft's lines of assessment of John's psychosomatic limp. Now if only I can pin down Mycroft's chara and write myself a Lestrade/Mycroft one, OTZ
