Last night I got a phone call from Talia saying that SAT class was canceled. Needless to say, I was thrilled. About the same time, someone else got a much less thrilling phone call. When I found out what had happened, words simply cannot explain how shocked I was. I was sad, afraid, and utterly surprised all at once. I began to shake-literally. Eventually I went to bed with a book to take my mind off of all of it and calm my nerves. Eventually I fell asleep around 2.
I woke up this morning, optimistic about the day and how people might be. However, when I got to school the day turned out to be every bit as bad as I expected. I tried to stay calm, I tried to repress my tears, but really, it was all so overwhelming.
I think the thing that bothered me the most is the fact that parents know. Parents, although I am sure they will largely forgive certain people, will probably never see them the same way. That is the hardest part to get over, that is what makes this the worst. It seems almost unfair. The small mistake of recording thoughts about others had unpredictably large repercussions. Everyone talks, its unavoidable really, and the fact that certain people are in this situation simply because their thoughts are there for anyone to read, is tremendously unfortunate. The thing that makes the difference between those people that can be forgiven and others is that they admit the mistake, and didn't flaunt their ability to publicize slander.
To whomever sent the journal to parents all I have to ask is; why? If Chuck made you that angry, if you really felt like there was a need to do something about his journal or whatever, did you need to do it THAT way? Was there really a need to upset Moms and make everyone mad and miserable?
All I know is that things are going to get much worse before they get any better. Personally I am sorry if I said anything, but I don't remember doing so. If I did, it was out of misunderstanding and I should have known better than to post anything like it.
