mondays, are fun. pretty much. 8am was cold and dreary. new england weather. i drove to work today because i had plans to shop after work. i only have a couple more days to make the apt hospitable for guests... and not just any guests, my parents are coming!!! i've been relinquishing more and more of my savings because i'm finally realizing what those savings are for: times like this. i'm not going to go overboard, but i like that i allowed myself to spend $70 on pillows today. beautiful, awesome pillows. ok, totally extravagant, but it's important to make ogden street a home - and pillow support was prescribed for nik's surgery. cheaper than a lazyboy! i dread the day that i move again and face the reality of having to leave some things behind, but at the same time appreciate the sobriety that thought gives me before buying. i will be a smart consumer - and my apartment will be comfy.
i really am enjoying this "settling in" time. i dig that nik is digging it too. we bought a bed from a dear, dear lady on friday night and setting it up on saturday was such a high. our apartment matured! soon there will be new bedding, and we'll hang coordinating art on the walls, buy a rug and a reading lamp. we have the perfect amount of space, although we'll see how it works to have two other adults living here for a week. man, i can't believe how excited i am for my parent's visit. here are a couple highlights that i am looking forward to:
1. POTAGER. best restaurant in denver, as said by many, and its two blocks from my house. nik and i went our first week here after i met the bar master at crate, and its splendid food & service was worth every penny. i can't wait to go back and show what organic, locally grown, and seasonal menus are like in these parts to the rents. pretty sure i'm gonna pay, which is borderline crazy but whatever.
2. garden of the gods/colorado springs. new place, supposed to be gorgeous!
3. the indian peaks, nederland - autumn colorado foliage & home of the yonder mountain string band. hipppiiies! fjords, kinda. cool spot.
4. and straight up, quality time. i hope we bond over an episode of Little Britain... take brilliant pictures in Red Rocks, and relax to a beautiful soundtrack on a beautiful mountain road on the way home from a full day.
