Welp, as of Friday I am 30. I feel like my 30's will be better than my 20's in general. On Thursday I worked in the morning and as I was driving home in the early afternoon I decided that I needed to do something special and also that it was too damn hot for my late September birthday (95 degrees, ugh). I hated the fact that I hadn't got to go to the beach this whole miserable summer (91 days over 90 degrees, a record). So I booked a hotel at Carolina Beach for that night and Lou and I took off. When we got there it was already dark, but I knew that the moon's been rising early lately, so we went out to the beach. It was just beautiful. The moon was so bright we didn't need any other light. You could even see a couple of stars. We walked down the beach for awhile and then just sat and watched the waves crash on the shore. Later we walked down the main drag picked up some fancy beer and pizza to take back to the hotel room. On my birthday proper, we slept in, but still managed to get to beach in the morning. Spent a little time in the ocean and more time baking in the sun, sooo nice. We got some Thai food for lunch and then back to the beach for a little bit. I got a little crispy in a couple spots, but not full blown burnt. I had exhausted myself with all the laying around doing nothing, so we headed back mid-afternoon. Overall, a very successful birthday.
