Not only one of the best Panic stories I've ever read, but one of the best stories I've ever read.
You write incredibly well; there was nothing about any of this I would change. Nothing superfluous at all.
Your characterisations, descriptions of environment, mood, personal exchanges...wow. (You've reduced me to saying "Wow" despite the fact that I'm usually quite eloquent with my commenting!
The way you've written the break-up - as mockturtletale said above - "a slow and almost unforeseeable drift."
The pain Brendon and Spencer felt at Ryan's behaviour was painfully palpable, and as well as feeling angry at Ryan, I also felt such sympathy; seeing someone so young and talented losing control, lashing out at loved ones, in total denial about his situation. And his spite, condescension, cruelty; I was quaking in my boots when he got started!
I read Jon as pretty detached. He didn't worry the first time they called him, and even after the second, he wasn't worried enough to act on it. Pete too. In the end, everything was left to Brendon and Spencer. Poor bastards.
As for the sex scenes. Some of the hottest I've ever read. True fact. Was glad I was already in bed when I read them. TMI? Nothing like sharing with a total stranger eh?
And finally - the love between the two of them. You made MY heart do flip-flops. God, it was incredible. The way they slowly, but surely, came around to acting on their impulses, their wishes, desires, dreams. Truly beautiful.
Thank you very, very much for writing this, and sharing it with us all.
wow, thank you so much for that! i always appreciate it so much when people take the time out to give me real feedback, and that was just so sweet, thank you so much. <3
