Wheesung - Vol. 5 Eternal Essence of Music
sorry about the lack of updates, i haven't died, but it's been one busy week. anyway, today i bring you wheesung (which star was a back-dated entry), whose 2nd album i have in actual physical CD form. there, are you impressed or what! haha that should say something about his skills right
anyway wheesung's the king of r&b in korea (at least in my opinion), because he pens most of his songs. and no one can sing as many notes using only one syllable as he can hahaha. his voice isn't the husky, deep-throated kind. it borders slightly on the higher side, but boy can this guy sing.
there's a pretty good mix of fast and slow tracks on this album, and they make for great listening because of his smooth delivery. no pop whatsoever on this album, even the ballads are r&b. i really REALLY like 이별 앞에 서서 because there's just wheesung written all over it. the melody is just so memorable (MINOR KEY MINOR KEY :D), and so.. uniquely him. try this track, even if you pass on the others. okay no try 다쳐도 좋아 also ahahah sorry but HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE HIS TUNES.
어쩌다 보니 비밀 is very cute, because of it's very cheena opening and chorus (: very very catchy
also, the geek in me finds 안녕히 계시죠 a very cool title!! anyonghi gaetshijyo is saying goodbye in a colloquial way, something you'd hear in period dramas. haha cute right. okay shut up -_-
his fast songs deviate like crazy from mainstream bubblegum pop, and though i'm not a huge fan of loud hip-hop (i think you can tell -_-) i LOVE 벌 because, well, it's wheesung. haha only he can make hip-hop sound more than forgiveable. 만져주기 (Feat. Younha) is REALLY GOOD too, and showcases his incredible rapping skills. he really is MULTI-TALENTED. and i know this is going to make a lot of people explode, but he makes jaychou look like uh, joachimgomez. HAHA no leh im not sorry OKAY BYE BEFORE I GET KILLED
(i won't recommend against all odds because i do not like covers of english songs. which is a pity actually because he does a pretty good rendition of it, but if you want to do an english cover your enunciation has to be flawless, and unfortunately here, it isn't. well it's a bonus track anyways so it does (:) WHEESUNG FOREVER. yayyy
