So as opposed to last year when we had to wait up to two hours outside we walked up and they started taking people in to the holding area. (A bunch of standard school benches under a patio) We still had to wait a little a while and passed away our time making fun of the old ladies infront of us because they were talking to my mom and just turned around like they forgot they were talking to her. So we deemed them dumb blonds. :) We get to the holding area and WOAHMYGOD there were a lot of people jammed in there. Me and my friend David got put in the 'young kid' line so we would be up front. My mom just went with us but ended up wanting to get a seat so she stayed back with the old people.
We go in and were put stage right in the mosh pit. On our way in there was a group of around 6 screaming girls aged 12-14. "OH MY GOD WE ARE BACKSTAGE!" (we were under the bleachers)then they proceeded to yell ADAM ADAM!! I leaned over to my friend and joked "I wonder if they know he's gay." He being ever so funny goes "I wonder if they know what gay is." Then the young couple next to us shot us a glare. We were being mean but the girls were annoying. So i crossed my fingers we'd be put FAR away from them. Of course we were right next to them. Damn karma. So were waiting and i see my mom come in and get a seat up in the bleachers and she could see perfectly. So there is a piano on stage, David and I figure Scott is up. We forgot about the resident dueling piano guy, Matt. Who was first. There was nobody to yell at us this year that if we clap above our head it looks better on camera and to try and lie through their teeth that swaying to slow songs is good. There was no Ryan so there would be no intro packages and no banter and what not. I was bummed.
Matt comes up and sings and, I'm not going to lie i was bored. If it weren't for the tv's all showing just his hands on the piano i would have been completely uninterested. So he leaves.
Scott comes on with his mom. He's actually good looking in person. He sat down at the piano and sang some song i didn't know. I had to fight the urge to cringe a couple of times at the pitch issues. So that was uninteresting.
He leaves and on comes Michael Sarver is next and they announce that followed by "Where is the Hermonica" i was completely horrified that he would play a harmonica after Chikeze got blasted for it last year. Turns out it's just a harmonica guy. Who is HOT! Just fyi. I was interested in his song for the first time since the 'show' began. I was pleasantly surprised. He moves around on the stage A LOT! Which i like.
Lil Rounds is up next singing "independence day". It was good, i sang along. She seemed bored with it though until the end when she smiled it was weird. She had this cool American Flag graphic behind her though!
He leaves and on comes Allison. David loves her so he waved and she waved back and he was preeeeeeeetty excited. She sand Blame It On Your Heart. She's amazing but i hate country so i felt like it was tainting her voice. Not as good as last week with her.
Kris Allen comes out and i was bracing myself for screaming and squeeling from the 12 years olds near us. Nope. They were not enthusiastic. Maybe Simon was right about letting the wife thing out so early. He sat on the stool and David goes "okay castro wannabe" hahaha! I like my friend he's got the right idea. He sang it was good but i was distracted by the yellow tape on the ceiling. They tried to start waving their arms and deb goes "yea you guys can start it" i just started at her incredulously. Then the girls who WERE waving where WAY off beat. So deb goes "You guys are fast wavers" haha! I like deb. She also said "i think im going have to start liking country music after this week" She kicks ass.
He leaves and dun dun dun dun ADAM comes out. Holy shit my ears almost died. He was the only one to come out on our side and i was excited then the squeeling kicked in and i was just annoyed. Deb the stage manager goes "before you ask YES it is a country song". There twelve year olds yelled "ADAM WE WANT YOUR BABIES" and ducked, i was behind them, hysterically and he looked over at me so i just shaked my head and pointed at them. Seventy Five percent of them can't even HAVE babies. So our question was answered, NO they don't know he is gay. Ring of Fire has never sounded so good! The old women in the back were on their feet and ridiculously excited because it was more of their era's music. The girls on the floor probably hated it because it doesnt sound like Hannah Montana but he knocked it out of the park. He leaves our way and waves at me, i was content for the day.
Alexis Grace is up and standing on the stairs stage left. Singing Jolene! I was excited cause i know the song from Brooke last year. Yea Brooke's was better if Alexis has just pushed through a little bit more it would have been perfect. Still did good though.
Danny Gokey is up and the cougars are on their feet. He gave the loser sign at the audience. This is where i noticed some producer manipulation his was the only performance to have the house lights lighting the audience. They weren't excited until they were lit and then they all stood up. I think it's a way to get a reaction from the audience? Maybe?
Next up is Anoop! I was bored bored bored bored. Worst of the night (we didn't see megan :/ so i'm not confident she'll be better but i hope so) I dont remember anything about anoop at all. :( I liked him before too! He just needed to move away from the mic stand.
So they bring everyone out for a group shot and I go "HEY WHERES MEGAN!" then some girl turns around and goes "oh yea the weird girl didn't sing" so i snapped "her names megan and i want her to sing" then everyone starts yelling where is megan. Deb the stage manager ignores us and tells us Lil is going to go again. Lil is crying so were like "okkkkkkkkkay?" then we go back to yelling where's megan. We finally get the answer that she had a wardrobe issue? Weird. Lil sings again and the background is different? Who knows?.
We're forced to stand there and stare at an empty stage for a shot during the results show tomorrow. That was boring and the kids were restless, FINALLY we were released to go!
