The past 6 weeks have not been the best cup of tea. I've been taking care of my mom as she recovers from a broken ankle that, thankfully did not need surgery. I have also been trying do well in classes despite a mid-term, a research project, a presentation and a final exam. During this time, I was concerned for my professor's heath because she was suffering from seizures and migraines, causing her to have to rearrange some things for class. I have no idea how she is doing right now, but I hope her wife and her are doing well.
Hard drive failures have not made things any easier. My laptop HDD had to be replaced because of a head crash, no thanks to a cat. My mom's HDD has a sector that keeps getting corrupted, possibly due to her not shutting down the tower at night. I had to install Vista onto it to see if that would help. So far, Vista seems more capable of being able to handle the corruption and correct it, unlike XP.
I have very little interest in attending a Christmas party tomorrow afternoon. There are things that need to be done before the Christmas party on Sunday up north. I've been trying to make as many seasonal goods as possible for this, but it is difficult without some help. Mom is frustrated by the lack of mobility and ability to help me with the various baked and unbaked desserts.
Her frustration grows by the hour because somebody broke into our shop earlier today or late yesterday evening, making off with several tool boxes and about $2000 worth of tools. They took her big red tool box and her skill saw. The thieves also made off with my tool box, containing my soldering iron, wires, and hardware for my electric guitar. We have tracked down the red tool box to a pawn shop a few miles away, but we can't do anything about reclaiming it without police present and that won't happen until tomorrow afternoon.
sigh...I need a break.
