The-its-about-time-update!!!

Well, as you all know, I gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Sunday.

Liam Alexander Cabana-Marshall weighing in at 8lbs. 12 oz.!

Since you all know his credentials *glares at friends who update before I get to...* - I'll tell you all about the delivery and the week home!

Saturday night I started having contractions. I didn't know it, I thought it was just cramps. They were about 45 mins apart and uncomfortable - BUT, Bryn and I went to the movies regardless. We saw Finding Neverland and we both cried - because it was sad... and stuff. Anyways, then we came home, had some supper and wen to bed.

At around 3:30am, I had been woken up too many times from pains, but this time it was really bad. So, around 4am, I went downstairs and woke Bryn up asking him to time my pains - 6 minutes apart.
Bryn convinced me to call Triage and they said that it could be early labour but not likely - so to just have some juice and head back to bed. Reluctant - I went back to bed with some apple juice.

I was up until 7ish when Bryn told me to call Triage back.

I called and they said to come in. Bryn and I took our time. We got showers in and headed to Timmies for a bagel and a hot chocolate. I had a contraction as they were handing us our food.

As we headed to the hospital, my contractions got worse. It took us much longer than expected to get into the building. When we got to the birthing floor, they put me in to get examined. I was only 1.5 cm dilated but in alot of pain, so they gave me a shot of something in my bum and sent me to lie down.

I was really doped up but in worse pain than before. After I don't know how long, Bryn got worried with my wailing and took me back to the desk. They took me back to be examined again and it turned out that I was 8cm dilated.

Realizing this, they rushed me into the delivery room to get preped. Baby was on his way! I chose to get the epidural despite everything I had been saying for the past so many months and it was well worth it. I couldn't feel anything, not even the cold bag of ice they were putting on my legs. Only problem was that my contractions were about 2 mins apart and by the time they got the epidural in, I was 9 cm dilated and almost ready to push.

I don't know how long I was in there but I know that I was sleeping between pushes.

I made it to 10 +2 cm dilated and didn't have to push too long (I think).

After that he was out and I was in shock. It was the most intense thing I've ever experienced. Seeing his little head and his little face just after is something I'll never forget.

I had to stay in the hospital for 2 days and learn how to breast feed and things like that.

I've been home since tuesday night and things are alright.

He likes to eat and while he was 8 1oz tuesday when we came home, he has now shot up to 8 15oz. He also has alot of gas so nights are a little hard.
Luckily I have my mom to help out. Thank to her I've gotten a couple night's rest and things are alright.

I know his name was supposed to be Alex - But he looks so much like a Liam, we just went with that.

I'm raelly enjoying being a mommy. I love the little faces he makes, the little noises, the way he cuddles me after he's done eating. It's all so rewarding. I even get excited over bowel movements...

While sleep deprivation was a little hard on the soul, things seem to be looking up as Liam finds ways to teach me more and more each day.
