ready.....set.....update.....
What's up with me lately? I don't think i can sum it up to be all short and simple.
College Applications: Yes ladies and gents, they are due Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Nice huh? Well not really. I would want to be really relaxed about it, but I'm not. I haven't turned in even one application. Yeah, talk about being behind. I'm planning to get it done by Monday night. Yup that's the deadline for me.
To be honest, I'm quite scared. Scratch that...I'M FREAKIN TERRIFIED! It's no the whole college thing (though it is a part of it), it's the whole uncertainty thing. Yes, I know that's part of life, but still. Uncertainty freaks me out. There are many so many what ifs out there. It's crazy! I know nobody knows anything for sure. I can feel some major changes coming but I don't know what it is.
We as human beings, aren't allowed to know what's going to happen in the future. I know it sucks. That's when faith in God comes. We just got to have faith that we're going to be okay.
A year from now, I don't know where I'll be. I might be in Massachusetts, I might be living it up at Long Beach, having hot cocoa in Monterey Bay, partying it out in L.A., watching the waves crash in San Diego, chilling with my cousins in the Philippines, or be right here at home. I don't know!
I mean I might not even be doing those things. I might end up somewhere in Oregon...I REALLY DON'T KNOW. Current feeling: I wish I knew, In the Long Run Feeling: Life is good when it's uncertain and there's surprises. oye!
I mean I don't say those things just because I read them in books and I saw them in the movies. No! It's because I've lived it and will continue to live it. I'm sure you will too.
Look. I was born in the Philippines (the motherland). Well I don't really remember my thoughts as a kid, but I'm pretty sure I didn't know or worry about what was going to happen in the future.
*side note* See that's the great thing about kids, they only care about the present. We can learn a lot from them.
Anyways...My parents moved me to another country when I was about four *won't tell you where because I'm not about to give you the nitty gritty of my whole life, life is a mystery you know*. So I lived in that country for about 6 years. I had great friends, had an awesome life, THE WORKS!!! My parents were making bank and my sis and I were living the life. By this time my long term plan was to become a computer engineer. I was to go back to the Philippines after high school and go to college there like a majority of the Filipino kids in the neighborhood did. I was going to meet a nice Filipino boy (or Nick Carter) and live happily ever after.
Well that didn't exactly happen. Something unexpected did happen though: My parents decided to move to Florida, USA. I had to be put the country because it's a big deal. It was a HUGE deal. I've only been in the U.S. once when I as 5. It's crazy. Imagine the culture shock!
So off to Florida. I started over. ALL OVER. I went to a Miami public school as a 5th grader. Met new friends, re-established myself (though i had no sense of style and thought of as a nerd). Life was okay. Not great, but okay. I needed to set new plans. I was to go to Middle School and go to a private High School. Then go off to Harvard to be a lawyer. It was a good plan because my dreams weren't tainted. I had straight A's. I was in good shape for Harvard. That was coming from my 6th grade self. My friends and I were going to stick together. That was that.
Well (again) that didn't exactly happen. My parents moved again. So did their kids. First we moved back to the Philippines for a few months to see the family. Then moved to California (my current "hood"). I didn't freak out or anything (I'm not one of whining spoiled kids). I just had to do this whole life thing over again. I entered 7th grade as the same person. Shy and trying to make the grade. I didn't know what was to become of me but it didn't matter.
As weird as this might sound. I thank my parents for moving here. I LOVE IT HERE! The friends I've met here are still my friends. God has blessed me with great friends, I can't even begin to talk about. Trust me when i say that they save my life every single day. I don't know where I'll be without them. It's been about 6 years. It's nice and comfortable here.
What now? What's to become of of me once I graduate High School and move on.
What happens?
nobody knows
As you've seen in my little story, nobody could have predicted any of those events. Yes some events sucked at the moment, but in the long run, it was worth it.
So all I can do now is have FAITH that God really does have plan for me. That we're all going to be okay wherever we may end up.
Peace and Love,
M&M
