so glad the tissue box is close at hand here as, wow. talk about poignant, doubly so if this is taken as the sherlock pov to atlin's lovely work. the notion of sherlock dealing with a future where those things mentioned in the other piece will at some point down the line be his anchor to their past in the place he is headed off to here... a move made because it is for the best for john, is so ... well,*It might not be the case tomorrow.*, reaching for the tissues again!

But now I feel really sad. :( see other longer comment about cara's entry.
I think there may be a collective mind thing going here, because I read her retirement story first, the yours Wendy.
Ok now applying angst b gone and going downstairs to make cupcakes for Harry.

It wasn't actually meant as a companion piece, just sort of mentioned in a conversation, but once it was pointed out, they work together so well. I went back and read the "Things Found... " fic in this light and it made it all the more poignant. I may have misted up...

I think that sometimes Fandom forgets that these men are just that: men. They'll grow old and run into the same problems that all men do; arthritis, age spots, Alzheimer's. They aren't superheroes, as much as we want to classify them as such. They're simply beautiful human beings who move with the world as the rest of us do.

I didn't cry, but I did feel a painfully firm tug at my heartstrings. Lovely work. <3

This comment is like poetry. I totally agree. For all that they spend running around being heroes, they're not going to be able to do it forever...

Thanks for that; it really is nice to hear things like it.
