Avenue Q

I watched Phantom of the Opera last Wednesday after rushing down to Piccadilly Circus during lunch hour to grab a last minute ticket. Comparing Les Miserables and Phantom, I personally still prefer the former although the orchestra was better for the latter. There was more drama, a better cast and repertoire of songs I favour over the ones in Phantom. Not to take anything away from the cast of Phantom, they were brilliant as well. I remember sitting at the Grand Circle of Her Majesty's Theatre for Phantom and having a good view of the French horns of the orchestra. It was rather emotional watching the chandelier raised to the sounds of the orchestra. Ah! Those wonderful memories where we play the songs with gusto in the band, hoping that the notes come out the way they should. Anyway, for a change, I am going to watch Avenue Q this coming Thursday. An adult comedy with puppets and actors. Totally my cup of tea!

Oh yes, before it slips my mind, I had an enjoyable time in Cambridge last weekend. Thanks to S who made it a really good trip for me taught me how to punt as well! I have posted some pictures on my flickr website for those who want to take a look at the embarrassing punting picture of someone who really has no clue. I swear my feet were shaking the first time I got up to hold the pole about twice my height. I was extremely paranoid of falling into the water although I could swim. It felt really nice to talk to someone from home again. I must mention that something rather amusing happened during Sunday mass at S's church. The mass was on-going and this young lady of Latino descent, walked confidently down the aisle and stopped in the middle to take photographs of the church. Her choice to use the flash unwittingly added to her obvious lack of discretion and absence of social etiquette. All these, while the mass was going on! I could hardly believe my eyes. Other than laugh it off as a one-off incident, there was nothing much anyone else in the service wanted to do about this impudent visitor.

I made the flight bookings for my Scandinavian/Baltic region trip last week, as well as the one going back to Singapore via Abu Dhabi. YJ and I are now trying to sort out all the details of accommodation, tour packages, train and ferries tickets. Thanks to J's recommendation, we are now going to Talinn in Estonia as well. I am definitely looking forward to the trip! Although, I think YJ is the one more excited about her reindeers and Father Christmas in Rovaniemi, while I am more thrilled about the BBQ under the stars and the Northern Lights(which we might or might not be able to see depending on our luck).  We also fell for the wooden cabin charm and decided to take it up despite it being 3km from the city centre of Rovaniemi because it sounded "exotic"! Ha! We are turning into a couple of dark haired bimbos! Oh, I am also looking forward to seeing Kimi's homeland in Helsinki *embarrassed*

Anyway, the weekend is over again and what awaits at the other end is another week of work. What annoys me is that my ever inefficient agent failed to pay me again. They are in for a ear-full tomorrow morning! Always giving moronic excuses and not performing although they are taking such a fat slice off your pay every hour! People need to pay rent and eat... and pay for holidays! Whoever wants to work in London, DO NOT GO TO THEM! Email me for name.

It was a typical London weekend. Rain and more rain. Hope the week ahead will see a bit more sunshine, but I seriously doubt it.
