There is not much time for me left in London. I have decided not to pursue my stay here due to various reasons, but ultimately I am glad to have made this journey. I suppose with my inevitable exit from the country in 10 weeks time, it makes sense to do more before I leave. So, I have decided to go to one west end musical a week, starting from Les Miserables this coming Wednesday and probably Phantom the next. I have also booked a holiday to Paris over the bank holiday in end August. There are quite a few bits and pieces of architecture I will really like to see there and not to mention a visit to the Louvre which I missed the last time I was in Paris 10 years ago.
YJ promised to take leave next week, so I guess once that is approved we can start planning for our big trip to the Scandi region and Helsinki. Thereafter, I will be making arrangements to fly home via Abu Dhabi where I will spend a few days catching up with friends and colleagues. Everything is sounding exciting and I think the best bit to all this is that I will be counting down to the day I embrace my plate of carrot cake with my overzealous and deprived taste buds.
I am not exactly sure if I will look back to regret the decision not to stay here and advance my career as there are plenty of opportunities out here that I might never get to experience with this departure. I have been known to do things on impulse sometimes and perhaps something is telling me to go back home for a while to see if that is anything there for me. Or rather, perhaps after five years away, it is time to return to evaluate my journey onwards and reflect on the past journeys I have taken. The pain, the gain and the losses. I always believe in returning to the origin - to realize the change in myself, my relationships and my beliefs. What to keep, what to leave and what to pursue.
Anyone who can offer me a job back home or know people who can, please tell me!
Oh yes, I got a message from S yesterday, an old friend I have not kept in close contact for 10 years who is now based in Cambridge! Thanks to M for giving S my contact! Will be great to catch up soon!
It is back to work tomorrow. There is not much time left to spend with my bunch of cheeky colleagues, so I will try not to feel the Monday blues and go there bright eyed and bushy tailed! Though surprisingly I never really do get the blues here, except for the reluctant to wake up early. I do not really dread the thought of going to work maybe because of the group of people who usually make my day.
Gosh! Think I am going to miss them loads!
