Live(vil) Update

A quick life update.

The Commonwealth games officially concluded last night in Melbourne and life is pretty much back to normal. Before the 6 Sierra Leone athletes were found in Sydney today, there were more than 20 foreign athletes missing from the games. These missing Sierra Leone athletes belong to one of the poorest nation in the world and are currently experiencing the turmoils of civil war back home. I suppose they are trying to seek asylum in Australia, but unfortunately for them, the chances of deportation are high. In the last games, more than 20 athletes from Sierra Leone went missing in Manchester. I suppose the chance to compete in international meets gave them an opportunity to see another world, which they find hard to leave and return to their shredded lives back home. Who can blame them for their simple desire to seek a better and more peaceful life? Just as I was typing this, the news showed one of the six athletes saying that they will be killed if they were to be deported back home. They lead a life that is beyond my imagination and comprehension. I can only empathize.

The Good Friday and Easter weekend is due in 3 weeks time and I am heading for Sydney over the 4 day weekend. I suppose there is not much of a choice in places to go since I have only 4 days and will not be taking anymore extra days. I do not really have any leave left until end of April where I start accumulating my leave again. This is the price to pay for taking a whole month off in December. I conclude that I should take short-medium breaks rather than a long break in a stretch. Firstly, it will allow me to take rest at a more regular period and secondly, it will not be so tough to adjust back to working life after a month's break. I am looking forward to another holiday that I hope to take sometime in July or August. I will probably take 5 days leave to make it a 9 day holiday. I guess the destination will not be Singapore unless I stop over for a couple of days, which is not likely. Whoever misses me can come and see me down under!

A week and a half after having my foot squashed by Bubba, I am back to my gym routine. I nearly spewed after going on the treadmill for the first time after the break. I felt so dizzy and uncomfortable. Ting mentioned on her website that her instructor said something about if you stop your exercise routine for 3 days, you will find it difficult to get back to the same level again. I find this really true, although I suppose you are not starting back from ground zero, just a few notches below the level you were at. I am glad that I am back to my old fitness level after a few days. Phew! I definitely do not want to entertain the thought of spewing in the gym, such utter embarrassment.

I feel like rattling on a little more, but I guess I will leave that for another day.
Before I conclude,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY YANNI!!
Hugs and kisses! MUACK!
