Okay, since we haven't gotten much participation on the last post, here's an update on what was brought up in the comments.
It appears that starting up the game mid-January, after the holidays (and exams, for those in school), is the best choice for most people. If that doesn't work for you, please speak up.
The question then remains of where exactly to start. Since the current plot (the battle in NYC) is going nowhere, it would seem like a waste of energy to keep going with that. So what would people prefer:
A) Jump the plot ahead. Say that the battle finished, these are the results, this is where each faction is now stationed, and play from there. We'll keep the RP's history, but new players will have a chance to jump in without getting confused. (If we do this, it's been suggested that we write up a general timeline of events so people know what's happened in the past.)
B) Start from a clean slate. Have a completely new and different game going. This would help those who are very confused as to what's already happened (although that confusion might be cleared up by a timeline?).
It's also been suggested that the mods contact any players who don't show up between now and when the game starts up again. This would be to determine who is actually still interested in this game and who isn't, so we'll know which characters to advertise as open. I personally would like to do this a little bit before we actually start playing again, so that we don't start with the assumption that we have some characters we really don't, and we can advertise and maybe get more people in who can actually cover those characters. This would not be the first time we've done something like this, so it's not like I'm pulling it out of thin air. If anyone is vehemently opposed to this, let us know.
