HAPPY BIRTHDAY
to a man who truly never walked alone!
"This city has two great teams: Liverpool and Liverpool reserves."
Appointed on 1 Dec 1959, Bill Shankly (b. 2 Sept 1913 - d. 29 Sept 1981) was a legendary manager in Liverpool history. Commemorated with a statue, the Shankly Gates, and the songs from the Kop at Anfield, Shankly was a history-maker whose influences and infamous Boot Room brought Liverpool out of hard times and back into the First Division as the club began its phenomenal uprising. Shankly was a man who truly embodied the Liverpool spirit. He resigned in 12 July 1974, but his influence never faded.

One of my personal favorite quotes from Shankly is, "Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."
