Great pics from our win against Bolton + Hodgson praises Daniel Agger

Roy Hodgson was delighted with the comeback performance of Daniel Agger in the 2-1 victory over Bolton on Saturday.

The Dane had not featured since a substitute appearance in September due to a series of injuries.

Hodgson said: "He played well and I'm sure he's more than satisfied with his own performance. It was a good day all round for him.

"He hasn't been fit for the last couple of months but he's trained with the first team for 10 days and he's worked hard in those 10 days to get himself up to match fitness.

"I was a bit concerned that 90 minutes would be too much for him after such a long lay-off and he actually did very well to last 85 minutes.

"I wanted to rest Soto Kyrgiakos because he's played a lot of games and is tired."

Bonus: Joe Cole is finally feeling confident!

Joe Cole is hoping his dramatic winner against Bolton Wanderers will be the springboard to him and Liverpool FC enjoying a successful 2011.

The England international came off the bench to register his first goal for the club in the Barclays Premier League as Roy Hodgson's side made a winning start to the New Year.

Ater a frustrating opening to his Anfield career, Cole is desperate to make his mark in a red shirt and help the club get back to the top.

"It was nice for me to get my first goal in the league for Liverpool but it was more important the team won," Cole told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"It was a great ball from Stevie and I just got my toe on it after Maxi had knocked the ball across. I definitely got the final touch and it was nice for me to get on the score sheet as it has been a long time.

"I want to be playing, but I know I've got to work hard to impress the manager and get back into the side.

"I need games now. People talk about confidence but the only way to get confidence is by playing games.

"I just want to get out there and play football for this club and do well for the fans. I want to get back in the side because it has been stop-start for me with injuries and suspensions.

"I needed a jab to be involved against Bolton, but I was desperate to be involved and want to do well for this club. I'm determined we can turn this around together.

"All I need now is games to get back to what people know I'm capable of.

"Hopefully this will be a good year for Liverpool. 2010 was a tough year for everyone at the club and we want 2011 to be great.

"This club is all about silverware, there are no bones about that. We are not an average club and we need to be competing and winning trophies."

Buoyed by the victory over Bolton, Cole claims the team will be doing everything possible to improve their away form in 2011 - starting with three points at Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday night.

"We need to take some of the determination and spirit that we showed against Bolton into our next game," he added.

"Blackburn are having a tough time and we need the victory. Both teams are in transitional periods so it will be an interesting game and one we want to win.

"The victory over Bolton could be considered as a turning point but we've just got to keep working hard and stick together in trying times for the club and keep going."
