Liverpool star scoops November's top award

Fernando Torres marked his return to something like his old form with a two-goal wonder show against Chelsea, and his contribution to the Liverpool cause during November has not gone unnoticed by fans up and down the country.

It’s still a case of ‘work in progress’ for Fernando, but his efforts have earned him the ESPN PFA Fan’s Player of the Month crown.

After his brilliant brace against Chelsea last month, Reds’ boss Roy Hodgson said: “I'm pleased with the all-round performance and I'm also pleased that Fernando Torres will get a lot of the plaudits.

"He's taken more than his fair share of criticism, some of which has been grossly exaggerated and certainly not fully deserved.

Carra operation a success

Liverpool have today confirmed Jamie Carragher has undergone a successful operation on the shoulder he dislocated at Tottenham last weekend.

The Reds' defender, who is expected to be out of action for three months, will now set out on the road to full fitness after undergoing successful surgery.

"The operation went well," said Peter Brukner, Head of Sports Medicine and Sports Science at Anfield.

"It also confirmed this was the correct course of action to take to ensure Jamie makes a complete recovery."

New deals for Kelly and Dani

Liverpool have today confirmed youngsters Dani Pacheco and Martin Kelly have signed new contracts at Anfield.

Pacheco has signed a two-year extension taking his contract to 30 June 2014, while Kelly has signed a three-year extension, also taking his contract to 30 June 2014.

Liverpool snapped up Spanish prodigy Pacheco from Barcelona in the summer of 2007.

He made his first-team debut as a substitute against Fiorentina in December 2009 and has since added 12 more appearances to his tally.

The 19-year-old was top scorer at this summer's European U19 Championships, helping Spain to reach the final.

England U21 defender Martin Kelly came through the Academy before helping the reserves to win the league in 2007-08.

His senior debut then came as a substitute in a Champions League clash with PSV in December 2008.

The 20-year-old has 15 appearances to his name.
