Rick James, bitch.

Everyone loves to have an awesome arousing debate about music, and that includes the un-informed opinions that are me. For some people its really important to draw the line between mainstream and other- stream, ie. Underground or whatever those cray-zee kids call it today. So, underground. HAha. The thing is, and I've noticed this so much and its INFURIATING. It doesnt matter what you listen to, its almost impossible to get outof mainstream. Even vintage is coming back. So therefore, one of two things often happens. Either you discover a great cool and gnarly band that is everything , only to realize a few weeks later that they're fucking plastered in every magazine and teen girls under 15 everwhere are over salivating at the thought of males with instruments. OR you see, and this is what ive self-consciously noticed, You are into a band or type of music for a long while, you follow it, its awesome, you even vainly feel reassured because they are safe from the radio. AND THEN you happen to look over a random lame Music magazine that has them #1 on their reader's choice awards next to the Yeah YEah Yeahs. From there its only a matter of time before they make "their great debut" on the radio...and then are eventually forgotten as sellouts. All this to say that no matter how informed and cool you are, and Im sure that everyone is much more than I am, its nearly god-damning impossible to get away from the mainstream that you unfortunately love. OKay, so obviously theres an easy solution. Just get off your assand look more extensively cause no matter how much I complain, theres still never-will-hit-radio-cause-we-are-too-fucking-talented groups or bands or music, or whatever term I can say that isnt moronic, out there. Right so you look for these bands. But wait! wait... are you LOOKING for underground? Well, sorry buuuuuudy but that defeats the purpose. To like a band because it is underground is not to like it for the right reasons. You like what the music represents and not necessarily the music itself. Its way too easy to become a lame-ass, and if you really actually value music, avoid the imgae. By the way, I'm mostly just having an argument with myself, so feel no need to care. hahaha But anyways, what I'm getting at, or trying to move towards , is that music should not be labeled in any way. And if by chance it IS, that label should be disregarded, because if you like music for music itself and not for what is says about you socially then nothing else should fucking matter. Its more meaningful if I swear in the last sentence right? right,,, so no
