She was arrested in St Paul while attempting to negotiate the release of two of her producers, who were detained without cause while covering the protests outside the convention. The charge against them is felony rioting. The charge against Amy Goodman is obstruction. Others were arrested, and police used "pepper spray, rubber bullets, concussion grenades and excessive force".
Goodman is a hero of mine, the brains and guts behind Democracy Now, one of the very few truly independent media sources. This story is not being reported in the mainstream media.
We are already living in a police state, but you won't get arrested until you go up against it. This is just one more example of police intimidation that serves no purpose other than keeping us in the dark. And they really do want to keep us in the dark. If the television watching hoards knew what is really going on in our country, they might get up and go out on the streets and have something to say. And that must be prevented at all costs.
Democracy Now! is a nationally-syndicated public TV and radio program that airs on over 700 radio and TV stations across the US and the globe.
