Intuitive Tuesday Night Walk

I couldn't study anymore. I read the middle half of The Mastery of Love this evening while the sun was still shining into the Crow's Nest, then went for a walk just before it set. Ruiz's writings set my mind at ease. My fear abated, and my love was shining out. I followed the directions that felt right, running at first because the pace of the ( Read more... )

I like coconut oil a lot, I use it in spaghetti.

I kind of wish pornography were more mature -- I don't mind the idea of videos of sex or videos intended to arouse, but they way they are done is pretty adolescent and they tend to make sex look more disgusting than enticing. One thing I noticed was that there is virtually no kissing at all in pornography, or any romantic sentiment at all portrayed, which is weird and almost anti-sex in a way. Reportedly European pornography is better, but I haven't seen any of that type.

I agree with you about the maturity level of American porn. It seems angry to me, too. If sexual media modeled more rich respectful or even loving sensuality, maybe people would absorb the idea.....

They would. Art has more of an affect on people than they usually realize. There was a large increase in casual sex in society after the TV series Sex in the City became popular, for example.

Do you have a citation for that factoid? I believe it, and I would love to take a peek at the study.

I'm not sure there's a specific study for it, although this comes close:

Hmmm. No proof there, but lots of opinions. If I had kids, there would be no TV in the house, and I would choose associates who also eschewed television. Modern programming is not just about sex, it's about consumerism, self-indulgence, and often violence and brutality. It can provoke kids to do even more dangerous things than getting sexual at 14.

Not that most pornography is art, I'm just using it in the looser sense of "media".
