A. Jenny McCarthy is a parent and is an expert on HER child. Who also happens to have a lot of money to spend and who lives near this kind of help.
B. My kid just got kicked out of special ed. at 11. She's mostly dairy free, due to being sensitve to milk protein (cant spell. starts with a c!) It caused her to break out in hives when she was small. I was told when she was three that she would likely be non verbal. She is not only verbal, but HILARIOUS. We did have behavioral interventions when she was little.
C. I honestly wonder if it would have just sorted itself out on it's own. My husband as a child was a weird as the day is long and he functions very well. They had many of the same quirks. He's still pretty odd. I don't think anyone can change that.
D. I DO NOT currently support a cure for autism in general, or genetic testing. the spectrum is too broad. If they had showed me a picture of Nora at three, I would have said, "No way!"
E. I think the DPT damaged her brain. She screamed a high pitched "My brain is being damamged!" wail for 12 hours straight and then passed out. I think there are people who are environmental canaries in the coal mine.
Excellent comment. There certainly are "canary" people who are very sensitive, and on the other hand there are those who tolerate toxic injections, for a while at least.
Your kid is lucky to have an active mom. Dietary care seems to help most kids who actually GET help.
As for "supporting" a "cure" for autism, it is clearly not that simple. But there is hope. For everyone.
