I can hear the booming music from the Pine Mountain Ampitheater out at Fort Tuthill. They're bringing in pretty big acts to a small town and I am curious to know how many tickets they are selling. Tonight was Dwight Yoakam.... I bet it was a good show but I don't like hearing the thumping percussion into the evening---this place used to be quiet at night but for the semi-distant Interstate highway--I-17 is the one I can hear from here.
During my walk on the Urban Trail, I listened to the same song over and over again, trying to figure out the words. The name of the song is "If I Needed You". Written by Townes Van Zandt, my recording is of Lyle Lovett. Touches me, still does, but I must practice singing it until I can do so without crying. This is a song that I would like to be able to sing, along with the few others that I know. And this song just happens to be at a very nice moderate walking pace.
If I Needed You
If I needed you would you come to me
would you come to me and ease my pain
If you needed me
I would come to you
I would swim the seas for to ease your pain
In the night forlorn the morning's born
And the morning shines with the lights of love
You will miss the sunrise
If you close your eyes
That would break my heart in two
(then the bridge)
The lady's with me now since I showed her how
to lay her lily hand in mine
Loop and Lil agree
she's a sight to see
A treasure for the poor to find
If I needed you would you come to me
would you come to me
and ease my pain
If you needed me I would come to you
I would swim the seas for to ease your pain
