Signed a lease yesterday morning. And about a dozen other papers. One that says I can be fined $250 if I take the batteries out of the smoke detector. Another that says it's my fault if mold grows in the bathroom. I'll be charged $50/hour for any repairs that need to be done. Wow - that's a harsh lease... I hope with all you had to agree to that there are
are some protections in there for you as well. Yeesh.

One thing I figure with the price of organic food is that if I'm going to spend an arm and a leg on something, then it should be for the food that goes in my body. I know it's expensive, but your body and your health are worth it.

Bottom line on the lease; he's a scroungy slumlord just like at the last place I lived. I won't ask him to do ANYTHING. I simply need to photographically document what it looks like now, so he can't get me on the other end. Tonight I cleaned up after his workmen. The gas still isn't hooked up. My life has been a challenge ever since I landed here, and it just isn't letting up.

I had a landlord in Chicago that still hasn't given me my deposit back. I moved into the place and it was beyond filthy. Unfortunately I didn't complain or document anything, so he says it wasn't like that. I need to get a lawyer, but it's BS. So definitely document everything. Even if you can beg, borrow or steal a video camera.

Bummer. Are you just going to school down there?

Oh cool... on many levels. Portland's a great town. And awesome that you're studying to be a Naturopath. We need more of those in this country - and more people that give them the respect they're due. Good for you. :) (I'm not a big fan of western medicine)
