Weekend is halfway done...

The Zar workshop (trance dances of North Africa) went well today, although the drive there and back wasn't my favorite... apparently they'd closed some of the highways I was driving on, although not exactly where I was -- I got off of 131 at 68th St., and there was a 20-car pile-up that closed the highway at 60th St. Whew! Lots of people in the ditch, talking on their cellphones... one salt truck driver who must have been drunk... was in the left lane going 30-35mph on 131 North, throwing up a tremendous blast of snow that made him a traveling white-out - and occasionally he'd veer over into the right lane. He did this a couple times while I was nerving up to pass him on the right, and as I was sneaking past him, he just about ditched me by swerving right into my lane, then out again. DOUCHE!! There were a couple of other exciting moments, but that was by far the worst.

Anyway! The participants in the trance class got a good start on movement-based meditation, I think -- one lady described her body as being full of sparklers, another as feeling waves of energy; the sensation was also described as a "vortex". I got a chance to do some relaxing trance myself, which I think helped ground me for that drive home. Whew! When my hostess asked if they'd like to do this again, there was an immediate "yes!", which made me happy. I always want people to feel that they're getting something valuable out of the workshop. :D Hooray for teaching, how I love it.

Meanwhile, it's seriously cold here... got home from the drive so chilly and clammy from the scary moments on the road that I took a long hot shower... llllllonnnnnng shower. I love our new furnace and water heater. I don't love paying them off, but that hot water is FABU. :D So, I'm sitting with the heating pad behind my back to help me warm up, got a hot cup of Rooibos tea next to me, candle and incense making the house smell yummy... time for my evening. Tomorrow will be a long day, so it's time to recharge. Hope everyone in this crap weather is staying warm and safe!!
