I was clean and dressed, but that was the extent of the comfort that I was feelin'. Walkin' through the little makeshift mansion that Angel had found, my shoulder still sore from havin'a bullet rip through it, I saw Cordelia and Angel gettin' their freak on. It looked like they were headin' for somthin' promisin' there, as long as Angel didn't lose his soul in the process.
Buffy was turnin' to Spike for comfort, or at least that was the impression that I got. Spike was droolin' over B', anyway, but B', man, I wouldn't have thought that she would be goin' for it so much with Spike. Besides, Spike was rideable. Weeks ago, sittin' with him on that bed, I was sensin' some serious sparkage between he and I. I should have known that his heart, which didn't beat, not sure how that worked, but whatever, his heart was all for her. Good for them, I suppose.
Not for me. The realization of everyone bein' shot hit me like a ton of bricks as I felt the stark loneliness, especially with all of the smoochin' goin' on with the other four who had lived through the bulletfest. I decided to take a trip over to the hellmouthian sand dune that had become of Sunnydale. Barefoot, I walked through a few yards and through a thin line of trees, and then came the nothingness that was Sunnydale.
I leaned over the edge of the giant crater. I tried to see if there was anythin' in there. I tried to see if I could make out anythin' down there, any old buildings, the starbucks, the movie theater, the new school once more destroyed, but I couldn't see anythin' but dirt. It was wild, yo. Not in a good way. It might have been funny eysterday, lookin' at it with everyone still alive, but now, it wasn't so serious. I had thought that Robin was dead, and then he wasn't. Now he was. The one guy that I started to trust, and he was taken from me.
I was about to get up when I heard the helicopter approachin'. It was hard to know who it might be. At first, I was thinkin' cops, and I had the urge to flee, but then at last, I looked at it and saw that it wasn't cops. It could have been somebody gone for a week lookin' to fly into the airport or somethin, but as it hovered and swept dust everywhere, I was able to look inside. There were just two guys and then, the helicopter set down, and out charged a man in fatigues. It was a familiar man.
I never forgot a guy that I had slept with. Okay, I forgot some of them, but not this guy. It was Riley. I was guessin' that the madman got his squad, because it was just him and the pilot. We made eye contact as he came rushin' towards me.
