Aaagh. Well-- much as I hate to concede defeat, my bid DID come in at :02, so I reluctantly bow out in lokifan's favor. Fair's fair and all that. Unless you've got similar in, say, cobalt blue, in which case I'll happily fork over the $31-- I love blue. ^__^ And it IS for a good cause.
Cobalt blue is a favorite palette of mine, so while I don't have beads in quite the same sizes and shapes, I *do* have a ton of blue pieces to work with -- I've actually even got a fairly delicate cobalt choker halfway under construction on my design board right now. If you like, I'd be happy to work out something in blue for you as a consolation prize, for being so gracious about dealing with the timing quirks of the bidding! :)
Oh, I'd definitely go for that! That's very kind of you-- I can't wear a choker unfortunately (too short of a neck) but if you'd like to work out something a bit longer, I'm good for it. And I'll be happy to make the donation! ^__^ **dances**
I've got plenty of extra beads for the ones I'm using on that blue piece, so extending it to something more like a princess/matinee length is no problem whatsoever! (I wouldn't go much longer than that as these beads are all a lot smaller and more delicate than the chunky ones in "Punakea", and there are some little iridescent blue leaves as focals on the bottom -- so the proportions would look really strange and out of balance if it goes too long.)
Or if delicate isn't your thing, I do have some heavier cobalt beads that are closer in size if not shape to the ones in this piece; I could work up something in a similar length with those instead. Any preferences? :)
Oooh, choices-- I'd go for the heavier beads, actually; one of the things that drew me to your piece of work was the thought of how it'd look against a sweater or cotton shirt (I may have to dress for work, but I'll dress my own way. XP), and for color I tend towards larger beads. But you're the maker; I leave it up to you entirely. Thank you again!
Larger beads are definitely doable! And if you like the sort of handmade irregularity in shape and texture that the disc beads here have, I've got some lampworked cobalt beads (similar shapes and sizes to the various larger beads on these zipper pulls that might appeal. I'll rummage through the bead stash when I'm done contacting all my auction winners, see what sort of things are in the inventory that might suit you
( ... )
Aaack; didn't see this 'til just now-- earrings and necklace would be lovely, and I don't have a problem with silver at all. Where would you like the donation sent to?
Ah, no worries, I've been so swamped with personal issues this last week that I still haven't gotten around to taking photos of the larger cobalt beads in my stock!
Any of the charities on the suggested list are fine by me, or if you've got another organization in mind that's also working for the cause, I'm sure they'll be fine with me, too. Take your pick. :)
