Offered: Hand-Embroidered Item

Jul 01, 2008 20:13

Offer: A hand-embroidered design, fannish or non-fannish, of your choosing, on the pre-made article(s) of your choosing, in the colors of your choosing, etc. etc.

Suggested articles:
+ Set of napkins (4)
+ Set of pillowcases (2)
+ Set of dishtowels (3)
+ Cotton tote or bag (1)
+ Chef's apron (1)
+ Wall hanging or banner (1)
+ Other... let me know what you're thinking and we can discuss how possible it is. :)

I will work closely with you to select or create a pattern for your piece. I'm willing to embroider any design you like on essentially whatever item you like, in your favorite colors, and so on. If you want to make your own design and send it to me, I'm more than willing to embroider it to your specifications; if you'd like me to come up with a design based on your wishes and submit it for your approval, that's also possible. This is your chance to show off an absolutely unique fannish (or non-fannish, either way, but I think fandom crafts are way fun and the world needs more of them) hand-embroidered design - creativity is the name of this game!

Some examples of fannish and not-so-fannish designs I've been working on, to show the options you have when you bid on my work:

Tolkien Arms and Heraldry: I've embroidered my own version of the House of Finwe emblem shown on this page and am currently working on a stylized version of Fëanor's device. These are lots of fun and quite unique; any heraldic device, fannish or not, would work very well in an embroidered form.

Aubrey Beardsley's "La Beale Isoud": I've modified this image for my own use, to show Isoud sans background. Illustrations and line art are great choices for embroidery patterns!

John F. Kennedy coloring page: Coloring book pages are also often very easy to convert to embroidery patterns. Also, hey, the Kennedys are so a fandom. ;)

Hobbiton font from dafont.com: Nearly any solid font (not so much the grungy ones, sorry) is easy to turn into an embroidered pattern. If you'd like to add words to your item, go for it! I'm a good speller, so I promise I won't mess it up.

And so on and so forth. To sum up: I will embroider anything you want on anything you want, within reason. For a good cause, no less!

Contact: vana_tuivana or vana.tuivana@gmail.com

Delivery: By mail; timing will vary based on the design and article(s) you choose, but I would expect to put the package in the mail no later than two to three months after completion of the auction. I will stay in contact with you and have a more reliable estimate of the time it will take to finish the project once we decide what the project will actually be. :)

Minimum Bid: $30
Edit: If you choose a piece of clothing, it will not be included in the bid amount and you will need to supply it on your own, both for reasons of cost and sizing/customization. But generic items like pillowcases, towels, etc., I will provide as part of the deal, and your cost will be nothing more than the donation you make. :)
