The drill: A rec post consisting of one music video, one song, and one album all centralized around some vague theme.
I'm feeling lazy today, so this is another band theme: The Hush Sound. They consist of one pianist/girl singer (Greta Salpeter), one guitarist/boy singer (Bob Morris), one bassist (Chris Faller), one drummer (Darren Wilson), are adorable, are one of my favorite bands, are on that kind of hiatus where they say they're on a "hiatus" which is really just a wimpy way of saying they've broken up.
Although, to be fair, I don't think there's any band that declares themselves on hiatus and actually do mean a hiatus and plan to get back together and do after a few years or whatever. Anyway.
They're from Chicago and they're adorable (seriously so adorable, they are the most adorable band I know), and as far as I know they're all still buddies but they're all doing different musical projects.

This song is from their last album, Goodbye Blues, and it is probably my favorite music video of theirs because it showcases all four members and how adorable their faces are and how they're really not actors but that's okay because they're still adorable. Also I really like the idea and execution of the music video and how they really did think of a way to use all of them rather than just focusing on the girl singer like a lot of girl-fronted bands tend to do.
SONG:
Crawling Towards The Sun - The Hush Sound The Hush Sound do/did have two singers, and Greta and Bob tend to take turns taking the lead in songs. They don't really have any real duets, which I think would be interesting to hear, but the stuff they've done is great so I'm not complaining. Anyway, this song is from their first album, So Sudden, and it's so cheery and adorable and so quintessentially Hush Sound and I absolutely adore it.
ALBUM:
Like Vines - The Hush Sound
This is their second album, and my personal favorite. Their sound is, I guess, piano-driven pop-rock with a generally bright feel to it, even if the lyrics are a bit dark in nature. Not super depressing or anything, just, they're not singing about sunshine and daisies popping out of the ground. Actually, Bob tends to sing about relationships gone wrong and Greta tends to sing about dead people, so.....
But seriously, they're good songs. I really enjoy their stuff. If you don't mind piano in your pop-rock, give them a listen.
