okay, so at first i was worried about what i was going to post for today. i had no idea! luckily i procrastinated doing my lab report by checking out Evil Iguana Productions on youtube - they make fucking hilarious movie spoofs, like for the dark knight and twilight and twilight (yes there's two and both are funny) and transformers: revenge of the fallen and new moon.
BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT I'M GONNA TALK ABOUT!!!
it does have to do with evil iguana productions, though.
(btw i'm about to namedrop a bunch of guys in evil iguana productions. if you have no idea who i'm talking about, you can either a) let it fly straight over your head or b) check out their christmas special where they do a pretty good job mentioning everyone and also their apocalypse photo shoot and fast forward to the end (9:12) where they show the individual shots with everyone's name. oh but watch the beginning. car full of college-age dudes singing along to mulan and some japanese speed pop song? priceless.)
so they had this little video trilogy labeled FIVEOHfirst, etc, and i was like, hm, i wonder what that's about. so i clicked on it, and apparently FIVEOHfirst is a band, and evil iguana productions made a video trilogy for them. directed & edited by craig, tom did photography. also starring craig as a dude trying to get the girl/going on a hero quest to save the damsel in distress. (it makes sense in the video. well, it did to me, and i'm pretty slow so it should make sense for most people.) plus joe as his trusty sidekick.
BUT WAIT!!! THERE'S MORE!!!
so danny's like everyone's new favorite EIP member because he is CUTE AS A FUCKING BUTTON (omg his little part in the transformers spoof? LMFAO) and i noticed that the drummer of FIVEOHfirst, hey that's danny!!! (and the fact that he's a drummer makes me love him THAT MUCH MORE)
AND THEN, AND THEN i got a good look at the singer and was like, ....that dude looks a lot like lars. AND IT IS LARS!!!! which is like so fucking awesome, right, lars and danny from EIP are in FIVEOHfirst!!
and the best part about this is that they are TOTALLY NOT A SHITTY BAND. like, i was actually really impressed with their sound. well, here's the thing: if you absolutely cannot stand even the teensiest bit of screaming in music, you won't like them. but other than that i think you'll be fine! i'd classfiy them as hardcore power pop punk. i made that shit up, by the way. they sound kind of like if you mixed four year strong or a day to remember with ludo and tossed in a dash of fall out boy for the poppy aspect. so their sound is totally cool! and they sound GOOD. like, the singer is actually a decent singer. yeah, his voice is kind of high (think the maine - not anything ridiculous, just kind of high), but hey, he can sing. that's more than you can ask for with a lot of bands nowadays. and the sound is solid! they don't sound like shit and the quality's good! maybe the synths make it sound that much cooler, i dunno. i love that kind of synth styling. MOOGS!

craig is adorable in all of them. and joe is his awesome joe self. love it.
and okay, the videos are nowhere near typical musical video quality, but they're just a bunch of college kids with no budget having fun so keep that in mind, mkay? mkay.

FIVEOHfirst's myspace is right over hurr, check them out. their music is solid. i honestly haven't been that impressed by an indie-by-the-state-of-actually-being-independent-not-indie-by-the-state-of-being-weird band for a while. hell, they've impressed me way more than some bands who ARE signed to major labels have. these guys rock. check them out.
