hm, okay so i have no clue whatsoever what i want to talk about. none at all.
......yup, still have no idea what i want to talk about. so i'm just going to randomly list some songs that have been running through my head lately.
hello helicopter - motion city soundtrackdunno why this song's been going through my head lately, i'm not in an emo funk or anything. but i love motion city soundtrack, and i love this song. it's pretty in a heartbreaking way, you know?
you should know - midtownthe line "it's safe to fall if you just trust the ground that you stand on" just keeps going through my head. great words, man. wow that was so unhelpful right there, man. kind of like how in lab today i was like, "there should totally be a photocopy machine somewhere in here, it's like, a building." sometimes i wish my body actually responded properly to caffeine. anyway, i love that line. also midtown rocks.
my way - butch walkerit's a song about being all fuck you i'm gonna do things my way. which i really like. also butch walker is fucking awesome, if you haven't heard of him you have, in fact, heard of him but you just didn't realize it. he's written songs for lots of people, pink and avril lavigne come to mind immediately, but he's written songs for tons of people. anyway, with this song the "ho-oh, oh-oh"s tend to get stuck in my head. also apparently according to the comments on the vid this song was in agent cody banks. hell if i know, i've never actually seen agent cody banks. although frankie muniz was also in big fat liar and that's when i first heard the song first date by blink-182.
when i grow up - mayday paradeso i kind of can't stand the pussycat dolls and i REALLY don't like the music video they did for this song, it's just them in different settings popping their chests for the camera. but anyway, i was listening to punk goes pop vol 2 and this was one of the songs on there, and i really love the cover that mayday parade did. i love at the beginning when he sings, "boys call you sexy" and some guy in the background yells, "what's up, sexy?" love that part. also i like this version better than the original.
whoa oh! (me vs everyone) - forever the sickest kidsthis is pretty much the only song i know by forever the sickest kids, but i love it. it's like so upbeat with mildly downer lyrics (i think), but it's so poppy. also i really love the "whoa oh"s. they use repetitive phrases in moderation, i think that's why it doesn't piss me off like some choruses do ie umbrella by rihanna, shake it by metro station, and pretty much any top 40 hip hop song nowadays.
this disaster - new found gloryi remember when my friend in middle school brought new found glory's cd catalyst to class one day. i only had time to listen to the first two tracks, all downhill from here (i still remember that weird-ass music video! partial animation with a weird guy on a unicycle or something! and the acoustic part was the lead singer in a chicken suit!) and this disaster. anyway, i really like the chorus and i like the harmonies at the end. that part tends to plant itself in my head a lot.
undisclosed desires - museprobably the ballsiest song muse put on their new album, because it sounds like a straight-up r&b song. and i love it for that, and i love that muse branched out and tried something different. and it works! it's still very muse. the lyrics are incredibly straightforward by muse standards, but by r&b standards they're very subtle and metaphorical, i suppose. lol. and i LOVE the bass in this song. it's the bassline in the chorus that gets stuck in my head with this song.
the airway - owl cityso i found out about owl city through one of my radios on pandora, it kind of reminds me of the postal service vocals paired with jack's mannequin and some motion city soundtrack undertones. the motion city soundtrack part i might just be getting from the use of synthesizers though. anyway, owl city is chill music, chill electronic. kind of like the feel you get from jack's mannequin, except computer-driven instead of piano-driven. anyway, the beginning of this song gets stuck in my head which is really annoying actually because it's still fairly new to my mind so i don't know where this song bit is coming from and then it bugs me all day until i finally place it at the most inopportune time.
