Your point is invalid. Those 27.79% who didn't bother to vote were idiots in the original meaning of this word. The original meaning of “idiot” (ἰδιώτης) in Ancient Greek was “a private person, someone who does not hold public office or participate in public affairs”. So the majority of non- idiots voted for Brexit. Take it on the chin and stop whining.
Today's paper has a column - there's an estimated 6.9 million eligible persons not registered to vote - largest percentages amongst the younger population and some ethnic groups (it did not state how these figures were estimated).
Unfortunately numerous election candidates are also idiots. Fancy not keeping your promise to end up dead in a ditch! You just cannot trust even the Prime minister these days.
