I'm moving to London along with my dog come June ninth. He'll be three days out of his "quarantine" for his passport, but everything with his travel is going well and his ticket is booked - all of that is set. What I need help with is advice on living with a dog in London/the UK.
I'll be living in Ealing - there are a couple of parks around and once I figure out a route to jog along I know he'll get plenty of exercise. But does anyone have any links to sites that would have general sort of information? I've been googling like mad to no avail.
I'm basically looking for any information you can give me about living in London with a dog. He's an eighty-five pound lab/poodle mix but extremely well-behaved. We'll be living in Ealing Common. I'm looking for any and all information you'd be willing to give me on vets (even just a general price range I should be looking for), food brands (I haven't been able to find a comprehensive site like dogfoodanalysis.com equivalent for the UK or to get confirmation that his brand - Taste of the Wild - is sold over there) --Taste of the Wild is sold in the UK--, pet supply stores, great parks, just how strict the leash laws actually are, traveling with a dog around the UK (public transportation and such), clubs for dog sports like flyball or agility or even just for-fun obedience, how poop-scooping works over there with only certain kinds of garbage bags allowed (I know this seems stupid, but I'm honestly confused as to how that works! haha Am I just supposed to get special bags from the company or leave a bag open near the garbage just for that?). Really, anything at all you can think of.
I also haven't been able to find anything concrete on taking dogs on public transportation. I have a friend on my flist who lives in St. Andrews and she's allowed to take her dogs with her everywhere. I'm fairly certain the underground is a major no but... My boyfriend is British and living there already - he's in the process of getting his license and I have mine but I'd rather know my options other than mini cab in case of emergency.
If it helps or makes a difference, he is CGC certified over here in the US along with being a therapy dog and I plan to get him re-certified under the UK rules.
Thank you so much in advance, you have no idea how much I appreciate it!
