Friday: The Historic ("Old") Women Party was more successful than I'd ever dreamed. I will never forget what it felt like to go down to the Strack Dos lobby and let in Lucy Burns, Alice Paul, Marilyn Monroe and Hilary Clinton. Frida Kahlo, Susan B. Anthony, Rosie the Riveter, Eve, Janis Joplin and Eve Ensler were also there.
I thought I was the only feminist nerdgirl at MU who was willing to take it THIS far. It's nice to know I'm not.
Yesterday: The bus down Wisconsin Ave., the Amtrak to Chicago, wandering around for an hour looking for a decent cafe (all the time dodging a marathon) once we got downtown, the Blue line-interrupted at Jefferson Park, the bus to Cumberland in order to catch the train to O'Hare Airport, and finally, the O'Hare train from Terminal 2 to International Terminal 5...
were actually sufficient in distracting me, at the time, from the fact that PJ was flying back to South Africa.
It hit me after the cab to the Amtrak station, the train to Milwaukee, and the bus ride home.
It's still hitting.
