A real Google hit: "Rupert Everett's face makes me uncomfortable"

I think I just had the best Valentine’s Weekend of my life.

Was in exotic, tropical Wausau overnight for a conference Thursday through Friday. Got back into Mad-Town Friday night, just as Melanie was landing… and being told she could not rent a car with a debit card. (Even Visa ones don’t count? Boo.)

Hopped two buses to the west side and found her anyway. Also found a white spot on the hotel comforter… EWPZ.

Ordered a lot of greasy food and watched movies on TV--Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, My Best Friend’s Wedding, and Ghost. I still miss Patrick Swayze.

Looked at the clock and suddenly it was 3 a.m. We were 14 again, and we were the COOLEST KIDS IN SCHOOL. Talked until after 4 because it was a sleepover.

Slept till noon, which I thought I couldn’t do anymore. Took a taxi to my apartment, and cuddled. Explored the Capitol building, and then State Street. Mel loaded up on inspirational cards and crafty stuff. Also, a vegan cookbook and a book of e.e. cummings poems at A Room of One’s Own. Was tempted to spend money at Ragstock, but I resisted.

Ended the afternoon on a date at Dobra tea house. Got a Casanova rose tea for two, and a hummus plate. People watched and savored.

Back to the Mansion for vegan sandwiches, then to James Madison park to smoke Black & Milds and look at the frozen lake. Relished the long cigarettes, and felt like Cruella DeVil. Decided to get adventurous and walk on frozen Lake Mendota. Did not fall in! It was sunset, it was magical, and it was worth the trouble of climbing back up the snow-covered dock.

Warmed up at home, then took a bus to Monroe Street. Trader Joe’s, nom nom nom. Went to Barrique’s Wine Cave for the first time, and got delicious coffee and a cheese platter. I support and love my vegan friends, but I could not live in Wisconsin without eating cheese. I love it when vegans cheat.

Called a cab back to the hotel and vegetated.

Woke up early this morning to walk to Panera for a V-Day, Peej’s birthday Skype. Gushed &ct.

Mel and I watched some bad TV, and then it was time to say goodbye. What a whirlwind!

I’ve been napping all afternoon, and that is that.
