goodbush and I spent New Years Day at the Rose Parade in Pasadena. It was pretty good all in all. We did have to get up at 5:30, but that was the worst bit. We went down with some folks from the YWCA on a big bus which meant we didn't have to drive or park ourselves (heavenly news if you live in LA). We didn't have to pay for tickets since we were technically working/volunteering for the YWCA and got seats in a bleacher - no having to stand on tiptoes for this 5'2" shorty.
And then the parade came. It was beautiful, the floats were full of flowers and seed, and the marching bands were great. However despite having lived in LA for a year, I still can't get over the celebrity thing. If you look at someone and it feels like you've seen them before, you probably have - on tv. Down the parade route came Julie Foudy from the USA women's soccer team, Cloris Leachman most recently from Dancing with the Stars fame, and then finally Steven Spielberg. He turned to us all and wished us a happy new year.
So yes, I'm telling people that Steven Spielbeg wished me happy new year. In person even. Well, sort of.
Happy New Year to all of you!
