Someone on the anthropologist community made
this post about the anthro books she was selling on EBay. On a whim I clicked to see what books she was selling. Much to my surprise, the top of the list was Josh Roth's book. How strange to suddenly realize that other people read books by your own professors. Oh man, it makes me miss Mt. Holyoke. I've been doing that a lot lately. I think it has something to do with the time of year.
Sunday, I went to Bumbershoot courtesy of free tickets from Elissa.
goodbush and another friend and I all saw
Zap Mama. They are absolutely one of my favorite groups and were without a doubt the best live show I have seen in terms of their performance. It was so over the top I felt several times like I was watching a drag show. Except that it wasn't drag, it was the real thing. Oh oh oh they were amazing. I've been waiting years to see them since I tried to see them with
diamond_phoenix at Bumbershoot. They canceled then, but not this time! Plus, it was super exciting to see them at Bumbershoot on a free ticket and not feel like I had to go the entire time. We waltzed in around 5 pm and weren't exhausted and disgusted with the crowds by the time Zap Mama went on.
Life is and has been crazy. I worked at
Camp Ten Trees for a week, came back and had a short breather before heading back out to the woods to cook for a Teen Council retreat for 3 days. 14 teenagers. Sheesh! Then Jules and Jess came to visit (delight of delights), I did an all-day training for 9 volunteers, attended a 2 day conference, and went on vacation to Olympia. Now that I'm back in the office things feel busy, but not overwhelming like they were before.
My last day at the office is October 15. We move to L.A. around Samhain. Take that, leisure time!
