Character: Harry Potter
Series:
Harry Potter Character Age: 17
Canon: It’s a popular belief that magic doesn’t exist at all, but the truth is, it’s kept a secret. Seemingly hidden in the crevices of the normal, “Muggle,” world, there’s a society of witches and wizards living out their lives with magical customs and their own set of heroes. Some are bearded headmasters of magical schools and others are teenagers who wouldn’t have chosen that path for themselves. But they’ve embraced it all the same; after all, it’s not just their world that’s at stake, it’s everyone’s.
Since he was an infant, Harry Potter was marked by destiny-he got a lightning bolt-shaped scar out of it and everything-to come head to head with a dangerous dark wizard by the name of Lord Voldemort, who threatened to wipe out all the non-magical people. At this age, Harry was the sole survivor of an attack that led to Voldemort vanishing and him earning fame the “boy who lived.” Years later, Harry enters the wizarding boarding school known as Hogwarts, and despite the hardships he’s faced, he acquires two extremely close friends who support him as he takes on the task of Voldemort’s sole adversary. Harry is neither a guy who lets his fame get to his head nor is he the typical dashing hero. He’s awkward in how he carries himself, and he has a strong sense of who he is after so long. That isn’t to say he’s flawless. His arrogance and quick temper get the best of him, driving his often stubborn and self-righteous belief that he’s always right. He’s made a number of poor choices along the way, but thankfully, his heart is always in the right place and he always has his friends to ground him. In the end, he’ll always help anyone he can without any real care for himself.
Note: Harry will be coming directly post-canon, but pre-epilogue.

This isn’t really the first time I’ve run into someone who won’t just let up, but you lot are doing pretty well for yourself. I’m not too fond of the fact that you’ve just dragged me here, even if I reckon I understand why you need my help. But next time, it might be a good idea to ask first. You want to know how to be heroes, right? Well, I can tell you one thing: those Hallowe’en costumes you’re carrying won’t do it. So just drop all of it-though I guess you can’t drop the fur. There’s really no fixing all that purple, is there? I’d offer to help, but I don’t actually know the spell myself. You’ll have to come the way you are, then.
-Er, maybe that wasn’t the best way to go about it. I can tell you’re all disappointed because you expected a lot more from me. You all just wanted some help in being proper heroes for this … camp. Dangerous things are coming, yeah? If there’s anything I have experience with, it’s a lot of that, but I wouldn’t say that makes me the right man for the job. I’ve met a lot of people in my life that would be a lot better at this. Mum and Dad, my godfather, my best friends, and even a professor who was a werewolf who did everything he could to help despite the world working against him. It wasn’t always easy for them, but they were far better heroes than anyone. They were the ones who really taught me how to do what needed to be done. I reckon I could tell you some of what they told me, but it just wouldn’t be the same.
But ... all right, I’ll try to do my best. Like I said, costumes won’t just do the trick. The most important part of being a hero is having someone to protect. You’ll need people you love-and people to love you, too. They’ll be the ones who will give you the strength to continue on. I saw the giant squid on the top of the silo, and she seemed to have the right idea. Er, she was a little too friendly, but if there was ever a problem here, I bet she’d protect all the people she cares about from up there. The other important thing is to never be too prepared. Nothing ever goes as planned. I mean, look at me now. I was finally getting a break from all the trouble I’ve faced back home, and now I’m here. I’m ready for anything, and I’ll even help you all out.
Right, that’s all I have. I hope you lot aren’t disappointed still. There really isn’t a guidebook to this. But I do recall something one of those birds mentioned and I wanted to clear that up. You’ll want to skip all the fighting and roughing up after this, because you haven’t got the right idea. Being a hero is about heart and having someone to love, and the last thing you need to have anyone believe you’re a professional is a scar.
