So I was almost scared when I pushed the "update" button. But I've decided I like the way livejournal feels more personal to me than does myspace. I remember the release I felt every time I would write in my LiveJournal.
So this past week I had the week off, the family went to CO for vacation. So I was able to stay in their apartment in New York. Their apartment IN Manhattan right next to Columbus Circle overlooking Central Park, in New York. Oh man, it was A-mazing! I absolutely LOVE New York! We got to do so much -- Walk through Central Park and take engagement photos, see the Temple, visit Times Square, GO TO H&M!!!!!!, usher Blue Man Group, visit the Met, get lost on the Subway and end up in the Bronx, ha, usher at the Joyce dance theater, get chinese take out, eat a delicious nutella crepe from a street vendor, visit the World Trade Center memorial, look out at the Statue of Liberty, go to Mood Fabrics.
Now for anyone who watches Project Runway, Mood Fabrics in New York is where the designers shop for the fabric for their clothes. Oh man, this store has ANY kind of fabric you could want! I do not recommend going there without an idea of what you want to make, because it has so many options that it can be very overwhelming. I am very newly trying sewing and clothing design, and so far it is very intriguing to me. On our way home on the train, I looked out the window and I was inspired by what I saw -- the beautiful deep blue, purple sky, just after sunset, not quite dark, and the scattered lights of the outskirts of the city, looking like bright white/golden/yellow orbs floating in the sky. I know what I want to make, a dress the deep blue purple out a flowy somewhat satiny material, maybe charmeuse?, with beaded bright golden accents of beads. It was so cool to be inspired by a scene and create a design. With photography, it is so literal what I take pictures of, and even drawing sometimes as well. But with fashion, its inspirations created into a design. It was a cool experience.
So anyways, I cant wait to go to New York again. I am making Derrick come with me to Mood Fabrics! There is so much to do there, that is why I love cities. At midnight I am skip-hopping down the sidewalk because the city breathes energy and life into me! There is so much -- I am so inspired by all the creativity and artists there, it makes me want to create as well. Pretty much I just need to live in an artist community when I grow up...
