GAAAAAAAACKT
So yesterday I went to see Gackt's Attack of the Yellow Fried Chickenz live =D
Not that any of you knew I was going as I haven't posted here in... several weeks |D
BUT, YES. GACKT.
I'm utterly exhausted right now, and everything's somewhat of a blur, so you get rambly hilights.
Have taichou's report for something more coherant
Taichou and I travelled up to London together, spending the majority of the train journey spazzing about the upcoming concert. We got there about 1:45 and met up with Lora at Angel and then walked down to the O2 centre where the concert would be held. The queue was already along one side of the building and half down the other, but we got to meet up with misumaru and co and jump it a little~ Spent some time ranting about Bleach/cosplay/random things.
Then came the wait~ Broken in the middle by going off to get lost find our hotel and come back again. By this point I'd had Jesus stuck in my head all day and had spazzed at various people about the fact that I SERIOUSLY COULDN'T WAIT TO HEAR FLOWER LIVE. The doors opened at 6:30 and we all got let in promptly. Taichou stayed to grab merch while Lora and I ran to get places. We were about 8 rows back, which wasn't bad.
Then came another wait. I know Gackt is notorious for starting late, but we were in there before 7 and it didn't start till 7;45, at least. The crowd was getting utterly pumped up, breaking out into random shouts of "YFC! YFC!" and screaming at the poor staff members any time they came out to tune up/move things. We made friends with the people in front of us, though, so it wasn't too bad. And we got yelled at by Gackt's 'secretary', with all sorts of swearing and orders to commit ritual suicide 8D When it finally started, everyone kind of swarmed for the stage, which was... fun.
Did I mention this was my first gig ever? Yeah, so wasn't ready~
Got pushed and shoved and elbowed so much, BUT IT WAS FRIGGIN' AWESOME. WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE WHEN GACKT STEPPED OUT ON THAT STAGE AND HE WAS SO CLOSE.
A lot of the songs blurred for me, because I was so caught up in the fucking hell he's here, he's singing, he's jumping around in front of me, hell Chachamaru's so bouncy, woah hi Chirolyn, HOMG GACKT'S VOICE. Half the time I just stood and stared at him in awe while the crowd was surging and bouncing around me.
He kept looking at the audience in this super intense way. I SWEAR WE MADE EYE CONTACT AT SOME POINT. I FREAKED.
It didn't help with the song blurring that I'm not overly familiar with several of the YFC songs. I can only really tell Dybbuk, Jesus, Flower and Uncontrol apart from the rest. I had fun bouncing along to the rest anyway.
Oh, and Lu;na. Do you know why I can tell Lu;na apart? BECAUSE GACKT FUCKING STRIPS IN THE MIDDLE OF IT. There's this interlude where Chacha plays the guitar and Gackt starts by undoing his tie with one hand and flinging it into the auidence. Then he literally RIPS HIS SHIRT APART and throws that in too. Cue massive fight over it. I was just busy screaming and staring at him.
He sang Mind Forest completely in English for us. It really showed the effort he'd gone to to translate the song, although I couldn't really hear all of the words, it was still fantastic.
Gackt and the others randomly sprayed water over the audience. Then they'd throw these bottles into said audience (mostly before Kagero and just before the encore). Taichou got one =D Oh, but Chirolyn? Chirolyn had to be different. He poured water into his mouth and then SPAT it at us. Which then went aaaaaall over me and Lora. So I got spit on by Chirolyn XD
Gackt was having SO much fun though, you could tell. He was literally molesting himself during Nine Spiral to get us to yell louder, and then we spent 5-10 minutes before Jesus screaming at him while he just beamed at us and drank in the attention. I don't think he was quite expecting to get the reaction his did from his international fans. He spent so much time getting us to yell with him, first with "YFC!" over and over and then at the beginning and end of Jesus with they "Hey!" several times more than he was supposed to. It was fantastic, being there in the moment with Gackt, screaming with him.
And then. He went into Flower =D BUT HE DIDN'T JUST SING IT. HE SANG THE CHORUS FUCKING ACAPELLA FIRST. GACKT'S FANTASTIC VOICE SINGING SUCH A PASSIONATE SONG INTO AN ALMOST SILENT ROOM. I DIED.
(Lora was still next to me at this point - taichou had been shoved forward - and she just looked at me flailing and laughed XD)
Kagero we just spent swaying and singing along where we knew the words. Then, because it was technically the end, Gackt and peoples threw things at the crowd and trouped off. Cue lots and lots of screaming before they came back out for an encore, most of them wearing towels. Said towels were then also thrown at the audience, along with more water before Gackt finally went into Uncontrol.
And then we had a little MC entirely in English. He got us pumped up screaming "Brothers!" and "Sisters!" and then he killed me again. He said; "We are family. Us meeting here now is fate. I love you all."
AND THEN; "I promise to be back here again. Do you promise?"
Crowd; "YEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!"
Earlier in the day, people had passed an English flag around the queue with Gackt's name on it to get them to sign it. This was then tossed up to him. His face when he saw it was so sweet and almost overwhelmed. Chacha and Jun-ji fumbled with it for a while before finally getting it the right way round XD And then they put it around his shoulders, which we all just screamed at again.
And then it was over. I was exhausted, battered, bruised and just generally completely spaced out from having actually been a part of this. There was a camera taking messages for Gackt and I managed to be right in front of it both on the way in and the way out, so I said "Ganbatte!" and "Gackto-sama wa sugoi!". Couldn't think of much else XD We congregated outside for a little while to rant and whatever, - MET A GIRL WITH CHACHA'S TOWEL =D - before going back to the hotel where I just colapsed.
IT WAS THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER.
And now I'm going to bed XD
