Friends and aquantances

I find it interesting that the reaction of certain anonymous persons is so outraged because of other people's reactions to Leigh's comments and her friends comments. Personally I have been to at least two of the GSU crew events and found most of the people to be friendly and rather personable and yet when Leigh told me of the utter silence her e-mail and her medical situation received from her teammates I was outraged. Leigh has been my friend and more for a very long time. She gave more than most did for that crew team and more than they probably deserved since in the Spring season things occurred that landed her without a boat. And yet still she worked her tail off for her so called friends and teammates. Now Leigh is faced with a crisis and a surgical procedure that could put her in jeopardy. Yet where are her teammates the people she spent a year of her life giving her all for. Not even talking to her and flat out being cruel to her for no other reason then she cant join there little group anymore because she has to have surgery. Talk about fair weather friends. I played soccer for years and the friendships I made through those teams have lasted far beyond the sports lifetime and yet here is an example of a very legitimate excuse for not being able to continue in a sport expecting teammates to care, even if all they say is, "get well soon" or "hope the surgery goes well" but do they. Nope no two words are spared for a girl who gave her all for a team who seems to take and give nothing back.
